How To Sketch Cats In Different Poses
How To Sketch Cats In Different Poses
In this creative course I share a successful process for sketching cats in any pose. The course proposes a project of drawing a collection of five cats using pencil with the option of finishing your drawings with ink pen.
By breaking down the basic form of a cat into simple shapes you'll learn a formula for composing cats in different poses. We'll warm up by practising the seven main shapes that make up the anatomy of a cat. Then I'll take you step by step through using reference photos as a guide to draw a cat standing, sitting, sleeping, strolling and curled up. Once you've learnt and practiced the formula, you'll be able to start drawing cats from imagination.
Draw along and learn:
• Seven key shapes for drawing cats
• The process for drawing five different poses
• How to build a drawing from simple shapes to natural flow lines
• How to use fineliner pens to add interesting detail
This course is primarily an illustration based tutorial designed to be fun and creative. Anatomy is only covered as simple representational shapes and there is freedom to make your drawings as imaginative as you like. However it will be useful for anyone interested in learning how to draw animals from scratch.
Materials: Sketchbook paper, 2H-2B pencils, Fineliner ink pens.
