This course was derived from the instructor's work around the globe for more than thirty years as an intelligence officer, analyst, consultant, instructor, and contractor. He worked in counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, counter-narcotics, special operations, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, security, and other unique missions.

He worked alongside staff from the State Department, the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Defense Security Service, the United Nations, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization; along with a variety of other entities, agencies, and individuals from 35 nations, all of which were facing real threats.

Many of the valuable skills he acquired came from formal training in personal protective measures, survival, risk management, and other professional tradecraft; validated by his experiences on the ground, learning from the situation, clients, co-workers, and the security challenges they faced together.
