As a holistic health coach, it took me longer than it should have to really figure out how to manage, let alone find freedom from my symptoms, because I was primarily looking at the food as the culprit. Only once I let go of that approach, and took myself back to square one, opening to the possibilities that there was much more to my ailing digestive system than a particular morsel I was eating did I find my way out of the woods, and into the world I now know.

I had all the classic symptoms...If you're here, you're probably very familiar with them: bloating, urgency, unpredictably, a poignant fear every time I put something in my mouth of what may result, and increasingly strong anxiety. I tried every single diet I heard about, in hopes of helping what I thought of as “my poor digestive system” From dairy-free, to gluten-free, to the low FODMAP diet, and numerous supplements, herbs, and other hopeful attempts all eventually proved to not “work” for me. A lot of times they would help at first, but only for a little while. It seemed like I would do better almost immediately, my hopes would soar that I may have finally come to the end of a long, miserable journey, only to have my symptoms return again, sometimes worse than before. I now understand this cycle, but in the throws of it, I found it exhausting and depressing. Sound familiar?

The good news, the very best news, is that I have found my way out of it, which is why I’ve written this book. After countless starts and stops, attempts to track my food and find connections between precisely what I put in my mouth and my symptoms, after many hundreds of dollars spent trying different healing modalities and meeting with health practitioners skilled in a variety of areas, after eliminating nearly all conceivable possible culprits of foods, I found my way not only away from the harrowing symptoms, but to a freedom I did not foresee. My journey was long, but I don’t believe it needed to be. I hope to save you the stops and starts, the many hundreds of dollars and the incalculable agony, and instead offer you the knowledge and information that I gathered, so that you too can find your way to freedom from symptoms of IBS.
