How Do Infections Occur?

An infection occurs when germs enter the body increase in number like and cause a reaction of the body

Three things are necessary for an infection to occur

1.Source: Places where infectious agents (germs) live (e.g., sinks, surfaces, human skin)

2.Susceptiblee Person with a way for germs to enter the body 3.Transmission: a way germs are moved to the susceptible person

Healthcare facilities must have the necessary equipment to implement the standard precautions for all patient  The most significant precaution that is effective in preventing infection transmission is hand hygiene This is achieved by washing hands with soap and warm water or by hand rubbing with alcohol or non alcohol based hand sanitizer Gloves can also be used as a standard precaution new gloves have to be used for each patient and must be disposed of after each patient interaction Other personal protective equipment includes facial protection (procedure/surgical masks goggles face shield) and gown before entering the patients room Infection control equipment also includes the housekeeping tools where adequate and routine disinfection of surfaces and floors are implemented

Antibiotics, also known as antibacterials are medications that destroy or slow down the growth of bacteria

They include a range of powerful drugs and are used to treat diseases caused by bacteria
