In this course, you'll learn about how to build a strong family unit which is crucial for helping provide children with the safety and security that they need throughout their growth. I'll help you discover your parenting goals and purpose. You'll be able to develop a clear path towards developing the family that you would like to have. The goal is to equip parents with the tools necessary raise children with a balanced dose of listening, reasoning and healthy conversing.

Sometimes we think we are doing the right thing for our children when in fact we are setting them up for failure. For example, researchers have found that it’s easy for parents to accidentally cause harm with how they praise their children. Many parents instinctively tell their children that they are smart when they do something impressive or right on the first try—but research has shown that this can actually be counterproductive.

Motivation researcher Carol S. Dweck has found that when children are told that they succeed because they’re smart, they become discouraged when they are unable to solve a challenge. Instead, Dr. Dweck recommends parents should focus their praise on hard work and target specific parts of the project where your child specifically excelled at solving the challenge.

According to a University of Washington study, parents can halve their child’s tendency toward depression or anxiety by using parenting style geared toward the particular personality of their child. Conversely, parents who use a style ill-suited to a child’s personality can double the likelihood that they’ll become depressed or anxious.

Naturally, most parents try to understand the needs of their children, but it’s not always easy to figure out, especially when behavioral or emotional problems enter the mix. Parenting classes geared toward children with specific needs, or of specific ages, can really help you nail the parenting style/personality mix that best suits your child.

After completing this course, you'll gain more confidence in your parenting skills because you wilI have time-tested principles that you will draw upon to help you build a better relationship with your children by learning the personality types, how children express love, and the phases of learning.
