Glass Beads 109.1-Simple Flower Beads

Glass Beads 109.1-Simple Flower Beads

This class will be presented to show the student how to create simple, beautiful glass flower beads.  The class is intended for the beginning student and does not require a lot of experience or expensive tools and equipment.  The class will start with an introduction and a presentation slide of the class Syllabus.  The instructor will then give a brief description of the prerequisites required for the class.

The first lecture will review how to make basic stringers and encased cane.  After the review, the class will move to the second lecture where the instructor will demonstrate how to make some very basic flowers using only dots of both opaque and transparent glass.  She will then show the students how to stack that glass to make more intricate designs and how to use an Exacto-knife to cut the petals and add embellishment to the flower.

The third lecture will demonstrate how to use a rake to make ferns for the background of the flower bead.  The fourth lecture will concentrate on using encased cane to make Curli-Q flowers and Coiled roses.  The final lecture will demonstrate some specific flowers such as Tiger Lilies with curled petals, Cala Lilies and Pansies.

A short review and wrap up will conclude the class.
