This course is designed to prepare you to work in the hospitality industry and within a restaurant or hotel establishment. This course will teach you about various burn risks you may encounter in the establishment. You will learn different procedures for avoiding and dealing with burns. The next topic you will learn about is the dangers or hazards related to various chemicals. It will teach you how to find risks in the workplace, the proper ways to handle and store chemicals, and how to respond to chemical emergencies. Next, you will learn how to prevent or reduce cuts and lacerations in the workplace. You will learn the correct use of tools and protection equipment in environments where slicing, cutting, and handling sharp objects are part of the job. In addition, this course will teach you safe methods for using knives in the kitchen. You will learn the proper usage, cleaning, and storage of knives. You will then learn how to properly lift and carry items to prevent injuries. It will teach you about the back and the common injuries resulting from a weak back or improper lifting. Lastly, you will be given an overview of common slip, trip, and fall hazards in the hospitality industry. You will learn how to recognize potential risks and prevent injuries.
