Plant Cell Growth Regulators and Plant Hormones

Plant Cell Growth Regulators and Plant Hormones

A detailed practice test for science students

Plant growth regulators are chemical substances that influence the growth and differentiation of plant cells. They are chemical messengers that facilitate intracellular communication. These are also known as plant hormones. Generally, there are five types of plant hormones, namely, auxin, gibberellins, cytokinins, abscisic acid (ABA), and ethylene. In addition to these, there are more derivative compounds, both natural and synthetic, which also act as plant growth regulators.

Plant hormones are chemicals that are synthesized by plants naturally during the metabolic processes of plants. The key difference between plant hormones and plant growth regulators is that plant hormones are natural while plant growth regulators are artificial and are applied to plants by humans

Main Objective:

This course aims to expose students to an understanding of the hormonal and environmental regulation of plant growth and development. The course focuses on mechanisms at the molecular, cell, and organism levels that control the different phases in the development of the plant.

Topics to be Covered:

Plant growth regulators (Auxins, Gibberellins, Cytokinins, Abscisic acid, Ethylene), their chemical and physical properties, general principles, practices, and applications in regulating plant growth and development, plant movements and Tropisms Phototropism, Thigmotropism, Gravitropism, cell death, and senescence.

Let's work together to explore growth hormones and achieve future goals.

Last but not the least, I am always open to taking feedback.
