How To Treat Ankle Sprains at Home

In this course Phillip Van Pelt PT, DPT, a licensed physical therapist, teaches you the basics of ankle sprains, how to decrease pain, improve mobility, and regain strength after injury.


This course is appropriate for patients with a recent ankle sprain or old ankle sprain from a long time ago.


Ankle sprains are a very common injury but not everyone can go to physical therapy. With this course you will learn how to assess if you need to absolutely go get an X-ray for a potential broken bone, how to assess the range of motion of the ankle, how to assess the strength of the muscles around the ankle, and how to improve areas that may be impaired.

Part 1: Intro + When do I NEED to see a doctor and get an X-Ray?

Part 2: Assessment of the Ankle Range of Motion, Strength, and Extent of the Injury

Part 3: How to Influence Better Healing & Pain Relief, including should we ice a sprained ankle?

Part 4 & 5: Improving mobility & strength with detailed explanations of exercises & how to progress or regress exercises and activities


Phill Van Pelt DPT, PT goes over the general aspects of the rehab process that can be easily performed at home,  without equipment or with very little equipment.


About the Instructor: Phillip Van Pelt DPT, PT has been a licensed physical therapist since 2018. He specializes in outpatient orthopedic care and has invented a new rehab exercise device specifically for muscles surrounding the ankle. Phill currently treats patients in a local clinic in Raleigh, NC. In his spare time, Phill loves to stay active by playing basketball, working out, hiking, or just going for a walk.
