Knitting for Adults: A Beginners Guide to Knitting Basics

Knitting for Adults: A Beginners Guide to Knitting Basics

Learning to knit has never been so easy! This course will teach new knitters everything they need to know to start their journey towards making a wide variety of exciting knit projects such as scarves, winter hats, mittens and more.

By the time you are finished this course you will have completed two simple knit projects (two square washcloths) using the knit and purl stitches.

The course content includes:

- information about types of knitting needles

- information about sizes and types of yarn

- how to hold your needles

- how to cast on your first row

- how to do the knit stitch

- how to cast off and finish your very first knit project

- how to do the purl stitch

No experience is required and no learner is too old to learn this new skill, although I recommend learners be at least 10 years old. It also helps if learners have some experience with other textile arts such as sewing, crochet, cross stitch, hook rugs, finger knitting, etc.

Materials:

- a pair of straight knitting needles (any size - I prefer ones at least 4mm to start)

- a ball/skein of yarn (any color, any size - I prefer a medium weight or chunky yarn to start)

- a willingness to try and make mistakes
