Piano for Mental Health

Piano for Mental Health

Have you always wanted to play the piano but can't read music? Would  you like to improve your mental health?

Music can have a profound effect on our mood and improvising is an amazing way to express what you're feeling in a safe and really beneficial way.

I wonder whether you’ve ever had the feeling when you’re listening to a song and you get totally lost in it? When you’re making the music yourself that feels even better! There is no room in your head for anything else so you can totally escape, even just for a little while, anything you might be struggling with at the time.

You don’t need any knowledge of the piano or of music at all to enjoy this course.

I’ll be teaching you a bit of technical stuff around posture, the geography of the piano, note names, melody, chords and rhythm to get you started off but the main focus will be on just getting you playing and messing around. We'll finish with two play-along sessions where we can improvise together!

You'll need access to a piano or keyboard and preferably a laptop and headphones (headphones aren't essential but will make the experience more enjoyable).
