Transactional analysis is a theory of personality and a systematic

psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change

the ego-state model. The same model helps us understand how people

function — how they express their personality in terms of behavior.

of individuals, relationships and communication.

communication is called the stimulus.

The reply is called the response.

This gives us the formal definition of a transaction as a transactional

stimulus plus a transactional response.
