Learn How to Analyse and Understand Poetry

Learn How to Analyse and Understand Poetry

This course is for purchase by adults who want to support young learners with building their skills. This poetry unit will support students with reading poetry, analysing language, analysing structure and writing poetry. Each lesson is linked to the Ofqual GCSE Language and Literature assessment objectives that students need to know for their GCSEs. However, this course is suitable for KS3, MYP, IGCSE and GCSE learners or anyone who wishes to improve their English skills!

There are 10 lessons (around one hour in length) with real time activities, timers with teacher talk and explanation. This course is great for students who want to feel more confident with their understanding of poetry. The unit will allow students the opportunity to explore Christina Rossetti's poem, A Birthday; William Blake's poem, London and Dulce et Decorum est by Wilfred Owen. Students will be able to understand and employ a range of language techniques, structural choices and contextual information.

Finally, this unit is creative and some outcomes include students creating their own poem, Podcast and poetry mobile. In addition, there is a chance for students to share their learning on the Padlet page and potentially win a free 1-1 Zoom lesson with myself, Laura.
