In Canada, the title “professional engineer” is restricted by law. When you hold a P.Eng., you are licensed to practice engineering in the province or territory where it was granted. Once acquired, you are an engineer and can take responsibility for the engineering work you do. The license also gives you the right to use the letters P.Eng. after your name. This preparation course will help you to pass the National Profession Practice Examination (NPPE) and earn your Professional Engineering License (P.Eng.) in Canada. The NPPE is a computer-based exam required to practice engineering or the geosciences in Canada (excluding Saskatchewan and Quebec). The objective of this course is to build your foundation of knowledge on ethics, law and professional practice topics. The course contains 500 questions with solutions which cover the NPPE exam syllabus topics under the six major categories:
The topics of this course are
I. Professionalism
II. Ethics
III. Professional Practice
IV. Law for Professional Practice
V. Professional Law
VI. Regulation of Members & Discipline Processes NEW: Ontario Regulations only for Engineers looking to register to PEO
The exam simulator will give you a score and feedback, in this way you'll know the topics that you understand very well and those that you need to spend more time on.
The NPPE confirms knowledge of professionalism, law, and ethics. Twelve engineering and geoscience self-regulatory organizations in Canada currently use the NPPE. The NPPE follows all relevant standards detailed in the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing to ensure that the exam program is valid, reliable, and fair (psychometrically defensible).
