Yin Yoga & TCM for the Five Elements and Seasons
Yin Yoga & TCM for the Five Elements and Seasons
Yin yoga focuses on the deeper tissues of the body. These tissues are fascia, ligaments and tendons that need more time to respond, but often store a lot of stress. In Yin yoga you soften into specific poses and hold them for 2-6 minutes while breathing deep & full. This way the body opens up and releases the excess tension.
In this course we travel through the Five elements of TCM* and their respective seasons of the year. The Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal elements are each expressed in nature as well as in our bodies through a flow of energy. Meridians are the channels through which this energy is circulating in our bodies. Through the practise of yoga we balance and harmonise this flow of energy through the meridians to prevent stagnations and disease.
The course contains 5 classes, each focused on a different season and element. You will learn how to adapt the poses according to your body and how you are feeling that day. This will allow you to experience the deep relaxation of the mind and a feeling of spaciousness & ease in the body.
*Together with the theory of Yin-Yang, the Five Elements Theory forms the basis of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory, diagnosis and treatment. This theory was developed over thousends of years by studying nature and it's cycles.
