Bagpipes Stage 3: Transitioning to the Bagpipes

Bagpipes Stage 3: Transitioning to the Bagpipes

On this course you will learn how to transition from the practise chanter onto the bagpipes.

You will take the first (and necessary) step to play the full bagpipes by setting them up as what is known as a goose. This is where the drones are cut off and you concentrate on the chanter only and getting comfortable with the bagpipes, how to hold them, how to blow into them and how to get a good even calm breathing pattern.

You will learn how to set up the bagpipes as a goose and I will take you step by step on getting those bagpipes up onto your shoulder and for you to play your very first tune on the bagpipes.

You will need to be able to comfortably play 5 - 10 tunes on the practise chanter.

You will need a set of bagpipes to take this course

By the end of this course you will be comfortable blowing the bagpipes and you will be able to play your first tunes on the full set of Great Highland Bagpipes (set up as a Goose)

If you have been struggling to learn the bagpipes by yourself at home, or you would like some motivation to get going, or you are just interested to know what playing the bagpipes is all about, then this course is for you. Welcome to this, the first part of your bagpiping journey!
