Knitting a Slouchy Hat

Knitting a Slouchy Hat

Have you learned the basics of knitting and now want to try a more challenging project? How about knitting a hat using circular needles and or another using straight needles?

In this course you will learn how to knit a slouchy hat using circular needles and straight needles. The number of stitches described can be used to knit a hat for a child, woman, or a man. You will understand the types of materials used in knitting and how to choose the size of your needles based on your yarn.

The design of the hat knitted in this course is basic stockinette pattern with the rib design as the border. This is simply to get you comfortable knitting a hat. However, if you would like a bigger challenge, you are welcome to add purls within the body of the hat to provide a different design.

A slouchy hat has more of a body so it kind of hangs at the top rather than fits well on your head. It is something fun to make for yourself, the kids, or friends as gifts. This is a perfect project to start in the fall to have it ready for winter.

By the end of the course you will have completed a slouchy hat. You will then get a glimpse of the opportunities that exist for improving your knitting. How about giving back to your community? There are so many charities out there that ask for knitted items.

Try out this course and learn a new skill or improve on an old one.
