समासपरिचयः

Sanskrit language makes ample use of समासs (compound words). Use of compound words makes the language compact and beautiful as they convey bigger meaning in a shorter form. Understanding of compound words is necessary and also useful in learning मन्त्रs, स्तोत्रs and various types of literature. This course aims to introduce you to four types compound words in Sanskrit.

This course contains 18 lectures which includes video content and reading material. It is designed for adults who learn Sanskrit out of their own interest.

In this course, you will find videos with beautiful illustrations and lots of examples of compound words. You will also understand how to use those compound words in sentences. The concepts are explained in simple English. You'll also receive reading material that reinforces the concepts you've learned. You’ll be able to check your understanding by attempting the quiz given at the end of each section.

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Define समास and विग्रह

• Identify four basic types of समासs

• Identify the sub-types of तत्पुरुष

• Identify the sub-types of  द्वन्द्व

• Understand the rules of making and splitting समासs

• Differentiate between संधिs (conjunct letters) and समासs (compound words)

This course will enable you to make and split all major types of compound words in a short period of time.
